Faith Buenacosa

Ride Unicorns to Work Day should be mandatory in all offices. It is a one day celebration where all employees get a free unicorn ride to work just to find that their desks are covered in glitter and that there's a whole-day cake buffet waiting for them.

I am Faith, 22, a grade school History teacher. I like to read, write, and make art. This blog is about surviving the early twenties and my attempts to making the most out of it. Also, I love unicorns. I used to ride one to work but now, I just walk.

Philippians 4:12-13

I know how to be brought low and I know how to abound. In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing hunger and plenty, abundance and need. I can do all things through him who strengthens me.

Photo Walk: Binondo

I hope to make photo walking a part of my life because as they say, “When life gives you a city, take photos on its dirty roads.” I totally made that one up but it does make sense (to me). Taking photographs in the streets of people going about their lives and of things that no one except me finds special or unusual is actually a very relaxing activity. It makes me see beauty in the mundane which, in my book, is always a good thing.

Binondo is Manila’s Chinatown and it was a feast to the eyes. I will write a full post on the things we did there once Christer (who took the better photos with his better camera) posts pictures.

This Week in Instagrams

I’m leaving these Instagrams with you because I will be absent the whole week next week. Just posting these Instagrams and calling this post “This Week in Instagrams” cracks me up because recently, my college roommate keeps insisting that I am a hipster which I deny. I am too poor to be a hipster. I thrift clothes not because it’s rad but because they’re the only clothes I afford. This is some of the things that happened this week captured by an iPhone app:

  • I celebrated mother’s day with my mom by going home and bringing a bouquet of flowers which I haggled to death with the flower lady at Farmers Market. We had a fried chicken lunch and spent the afternoon talking. It was nice. This cat was having her very own mother’s day moment.

  • The fax machine is my new best friend. I sit in a secluded area at the office maybe because I told them in my interview that when I write, I usually talk to my self out loud to organize my thoughts. I appreciate their thoughtfulness.

  • The green gummy bear with a tail or a blaze of glory, whichever you fancy

  • I feel so official writing my meeting notes in here. I waited for a year to work for this NGO and now that I am in, I am loving my job more and more daily. Loving doesn’t mean zero stress though. This week, my stress level rose to a nine.

How was your week? I am packing my things to bring to the Children’s Congress which I am really excited about. I am doing this while cleaning my room and downloading 2 Broke Girls. Talk about multitasking.

Who noticed the polaroid menu? Yes, I love it too.
